Abstract

This case report describes the treatment of lip protrusion by using total arch distalization in a patient with a history of extraction treatment. A 35-year-old female patient visited with a chief complaint of lip protrusion. The patient had orthodontic treatment during adolescence with tooth extraction. The patient did not want any more tooth extraction and wanted an invisible orthodontic appliance for re-treatment. The Fujita lingual bracket system) was used. Temporary anchorage device was used for total arch distalization. After 30 months of treatment, significant correction of lip protrusion was achieved. The present case demonstrates that lip protrusion can be improved without tooth extraction or interproximal reduction, but by total arch distalization. Therefore, this approach would be effective for patients who had extraction treatment in the past but still want to improve protruded lip position.
